Grup Servicii Petroliere SA (GSP) has been awarded a contract by Wintershall Noordzee B.V., for offshore drilling.
The contract concerns the rig GSP Saturn, presently located on the continental shelf of Tunisia, which will be relocated to provide offshore drilling services under a long term contract, initially in the Dutch sector.
GSP Saturn is scheduled to start the drilling operations in May 2012. The agreement is for an initial 12-month period. The offshore drilling rig was subject of a recent extensive upgrading and reclassification project carried out in GSP Shipyard, Romania.
Stuart Oakley, GSP’s CEO: “This contract marks the arrival of GSP in the North Sea market, in addition to our existing markets of the Black Sea, the Mediterranean, the Russian Federation and Mexico. Working from our established offices in Rotterdam and Aberdeen we anticipate further growth of our share of this market, and plan to bring additional assets to meet the North Sea demand.”
Wintershall Noordzee B.V. is based in Rijswijk and is a subsidiary of the German company Wintershall Holding GmbH, a member of the BASF group. Read more
Dzhubga – Lazorevskoe – Soci (DLS) Project
GSP installs the 150 km 20 in. and 4.5 km 6 in. subsea pipelay along the Caucasian Black Sea coast within the The Dzhubga – Lazorevskoe – Soci (DLS) Project. The pipeline will ensure the gas connection Dzhubga – Lazorevskoe – Soci.
Grup Servicii Petroliere is the contractor of the offshore works package including: pipelay, welding, NDT, survey, as well as the marine logistics to support pipelay operations, such as supply vessels, and crew boat. The Company will also carry out all the subsea survey activities related to the project.
The fleet GSP mobilized for DLS project includes one technical vessel, GSP Bigfoot 1, the DP 2 heavy lift pipelay barge for pipeline works including welding/NDT/FJC/survey equipment as well as several specialized offshore vessels.
The Dzhubga – Lazorevskoe – Soci pipeline will deliver 3.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually. The objective of the project is to ensure a stable and reliable gas supply for the Krasnodar Black Sea shelf, supplying natural gas for cities such as Tuapse and Sochi. The DLS subsea pipeline is included in the Russian Federation Government approved Program of Olympic Objectives. The pipeline construction will supply gas to the resort area of the Caucasian Black Sea coast, also improving the gas supply to the 2014 Winter Olympic Games capital – Sochi.
